32-year-old man charged with murder for fatal stabbing of 17-year-old boy

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has charged David Zapata with the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Xavier Chavarin in El Sereno last week.

Zapata faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon.

If convicted, he could face up to 40 years to life in prison.

Xavier Chavarin was a promising young man with a bright future ahead of him, and his death has been a great loss to the community.

Zapata was taken into custody after an hour-long standoff at his home in Alhambra earlier this week.

Police are still searching for a second suspect who was believed to be a passenger in Zapata’s car at the time of the attacks.

The victim of the attempted murder survived and is currently hospitalized.

The case is being closely followed by the community, and many are calling for justice for Xavier Chavarin and his family.
