A shooting at a Concord strip mall on Tuesday morning left a 21-year-old man dead and his stepfather wounded.
The incident occurred outside Payless Cigarettes on Solano Way near Highway 242 at around 9:45 AM.
According to witnesses, the victims had pulled up in a car outside the store when one of them spoke to a woman and was then confronted by a man who pulled out a rifle from his clothing.
The gunman and the victim began struggling over the rifle, and the victim fell to the ground and was shot in the head.
The stepfather, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of the car, was also shot in the stomach.
The victim who died was identified as Eric Cavazos, a 21-year-old man.
Police are working on identifying the man and woman who were seen running away from the scene.
