We are still awaiting information about the 15-year-old boy’s appearance before a juvenile judge, following his arrest on Friday for the murder of another teen outside an Indianapolis high school. The decision to transfer the boy to superior court to face the murder charge will be made by the Marion County Prosecutor. Fox Fifty-Nine’s Russ McQuaid has spoken with students to uncover what happened inside the school that led to the murder outside. Skipp Legacy High School is where the incident occurred, and students inform me that there was a fight on Friday afternoon which resulted in Devon Gilbert being expelled from the building just before he was fatally shot in the parking lot. Prior to the shooting, Gilbert had been involved in a confrontation with another student and was instructed to leave the school.
Investigators are now trying to determine how the alleged teenage assailant, armed and on foot, knew where to find Gilbert in the parking lot when he should have still been inside the building. Mariah Does, a mother of two students who were suspended pending an investigation, expresses confusion about the situation.
She states that her sons know nothing about the fight and were shocked to learn about their friend’s death on school property. The parents and students claim to have no knowledge of the reasons behind the altercation, stating that their friend was not involved and was tragically shot and killed. Mr.
Legacy, the principal of the high school, directs parents to contact him if they have questions regarding the suspensions. However, parents have reached out to me for explanations..
