The 12th annual Ice Bowl disc golf tournament is taking place in Champaign to raise money for the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.
While the winter tournament is usually held in colder weather, this year’s event is experiencing unseasonably warm conditions with 50-degree temperatures and sunny skies.
Participants use Frisbees to throw into a metal bin, similar to the way golfers hit balls into holes.
The president of Champaign disc golf said the sport is great for family fun and competition.
Over 60 people have already signed up for the event, with a goal to raise $2,500 for the food bank.
Organizers say this will bring the total donations over $25,000 for the food bank.
Despite the absence of the namesake ice, the event is still on track to be successful.
